Youcat commented through CCC – Question n. 164 – Part IV.

YOUCAT Question n. 164 - Part IV. How will the world come to an end?

(Youcat answer - repeated) At the end of time, God will create a new heaven and a new earth. Evil will no longer have any power or attractiveness. The redeemed will stand face to face with God as his friends. Their yearning for peace and justice will be fulfilled. To behold God will be their blessedness. The Triune God will dwell among them and wipe away every tear from their eyes; there will be no more death, sorrow, lamentation, or trouble.

A deepening through CCC

(CCC 1050) "When we have spread on earth the fruits of our nature and our enterprise… according to the command of the Lord and in his Spirit, we will find them once again, cleansed this time from the stain of sin, illuminated and transfigured, when Christ presents to his Father an eternal and universal kingdom" (GS 39 § 3). God will then be "all in all" in eternal life (1 Cor 5:28): True and subsistent life consists in this: the Father, through the Son and in the Holy Spirit, pouring out his heavenly gifts on all things without exception. Thanks to his mercy, we too, men that we are, have received the inalienable promise of eternal life (St. Cyril of Jerusalem, Catech. illum. 18, 29: PG 33, 1049).

Reflecting and meditating

(CCC Comment)

(CCC 1060) At the end of time, the Kingdom of God will come in its fullness. Then the just will reign with Christ for ever, glorified in body and soul, and the material universe itself will be transformed. God will then be "all in all" (1 Cor 15:28), in eternal life.

(The next question is: Why do we say “Amen” to the profession of our faith?)
