Youcat commented through CCC. Question n. 48 – Part II.
(Youcat answer) “The world was made for the glory of God”
(First Vatican Council).
A deepening through
CCC
(CCC 294) The glory of God consists in the realization of
this manifestation and communication of his goodness, for which the world was
created. God made us "to be his sons through Jesus Christ, according to
the purpose of his will, to the praise of
his glorious grace" (Eph 1:5-6), for "the glory of God is man
fully alive; moreover man's life is the vision of God: if God's revelation
through creation has already obtained life for all the beings that dwell on
earth, how much more will the Word's manifestation of the Father obtain life
for those who see God" (St. Irenaeus, Adv.
haeres. 4, 20, 7: PG 7/1, 1037). The ultimate purpose of creation is that
God "who is the creator of all things may at last become "all in
all", thus simultaneously assuring his own glory and our beatitude"
(AG 2; cf. 1 Cor 15:28).
Reflecting and
meditating
(Youcat comment)
There is no other reason for creation
than love. In it God’s glory and honor appears. To praise God, therefore, does
not mean applauding the Creator. After all, man is not a spectator to the work
of creation. For him, “praising” God means being grateful for his own existence
together with all creation.
(CCC Comment)
(CCC 489) Throughout the Old Covenant the mission of many
holy women prepared for that of Mary.
At the very beginning there was Eve; despite her disobedience, she receives the
promise of a posterity that will be victorious over the evil one, as well as
the promise that she will be the mother of all the living (Cf. Gen 3:15, 20). By
virtue of this promise, Sarah conceives a son in spite of her old age (Cf. Gen
18:10-14; 21:1-2). Against all human expectation God chooses those who were
considered powerless and weak to show forth his faithfulness to his promises:
Hannah, the mother of Samuel; Deborah; Ruth; Judith and Esther; and many other
women (Cf. 1 Cor 1:17; 1 Sam 1). Mary "stands out among the poor and
humble of the Lord, who confidently hope for and receive salvation from him.
After a long period of waiting the times are fulfilled in her, the exalted
Daughter of Sion, and the new plan of salvation is established"(LG 55).
